Bisping ignites Jake Paul row calling YouTuber a "p****" for ‘fighting a woman’

Former MMA star Michael Bisping took to social media to mock Jake Paul’s fight announcement after the controversial American confirmed he is set to return to the ring this summer.

Paul will fight for the sixth time in his professional career on August 6 when he headlines the card at the iconic Madison Square Garden in London. The YouTuber-turned-prizefighter is yet to reveal who his opponent will be, but he will be supported on the card by Amanda Serrano, who will defend her WBC, WBO and IBO featherweight world titles.

The poster Paul released was mocked by some fans online – and Bisping didn’t waste any time in insulting the 25-year-old given the opportunity. He wrote: “Hold on Jake Paul, you’re fighting Amanda Serrano?

“Wow. Can’t say I’m surprised though haha.”

When a fan later pointed out Paul’s poster was simply showcasing the two biggest names on the card rather than promoting their bout, Bisping said: “I’m very aware ‘he’s fighting alongside her’, the joke is that he’s such a p**** that his next opponent is against a woman that is (as usual) waaaay smaller than him. Like all his opponents.”

The two men have a history of trading barbs online after the former UFC world champion declared he was willing to fight Paul despite only having one eye. Bisping has a fake eye, and he will not be licensed by a traditional sporting commission – although the 43-year-old reportedly was reportedly offered an Indian reservation which said it would be willing to sanction a fight with Paul.

Paul is currently in a training camp in Puerto Rico where he now lives, and he is training for his next professional bout scheduled for August 13. Paul’s last bout was a rematch with Tyron Woodley after Tommy Fury pulled out of their highly-anticipated grudge match, and the YouTuber knocked out the ex-UFC champion in stunning style after previously defeating him on points in August 2021.

The win added to other knockout triumphs over gamer 'AnEsonGib', ex-NBA player Nate Robinson, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren. However, Paul has received criticism for the calibre of opponents he has selected to face as he is yet to face a recognised boxer.

Paul is rumoured to be in talks to reschedule his fight with Fury, although his former sparring partner Elie Augustama warned against the move and suggested the American should continue to face MMA stars. He said: “You would beat most regular human beings, regular. Most beginner boxers, you may go four-six rounds.

“But please stick to fighting MMA fighters, please, please, please, please. I've been screaming that.

“He's been getting better but he still needs to go through work. You need to put in more work, man. Boxing is a really, really dangerous game.”
