Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr weigh-in: What time are the weigh-ins today?

Anthony Joshua believes he could weigh less than 17 stone for his rematch against Andy Ruiz Jr. The Mexican stunned Joshua in June to claim the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight belts. The Brit weighed in at 17st 9lbs for the bout in New York but altered his preparations this time around to make himself lighter.

Joshua said: “Before I was trying to squat 200kg and bench press a house because I used what got me to where I needed to get to, which was brute strength and physicality, but then I realised there is a sweet science to this sport.

“At my last weight I came in at like 116kg (18.25 stone), 115kg (18.1 stone), that’s with doing weights.

“I’m going to say we knock off about 5kg or so, because I’ve focused on boxing and the diet.

“Maybe even lighter (than 17 stone/238 pounds), maybe even lighter, I’m punching like a horse kicking back. We say loose and heavy.”

Ruiz has also looked slimmer leading up to the rematch in Saudi Arabia.

But the heavyweight champion reckons he’ll weight the same as he did for the first bout.

“I don’t think it’ll matter, I’ll weigh the same I did on June 1,” said Ruiz, who tipped the scales at 19st 2lbs in New York.

“I know AJ has been working on different technicals, he’s slimmed down, so we’ve been working on different things and angles, different pressures and combos, ready for whatever he brings.”

The weigh-ins will take place on Friday the 15,000-seat Diriyah Arena, where the fight itself will also be staged.

Joshua and Ruiz are expected to hit the scales at 1pm GMT, or 4pm local time.
