Andy Ruiz reveals the maddest thing he bought after beating Anthony Joshua in New York

Andy Ruiz Jr has revealed the ‘maddest’ things he has bought since he beat Anthony Joshua is four supercars. Ruiz shocked the boxing world back in June when he beat Joshua at Maddison Square Gardens. And speaking ahead of the rematch he opened up on how his life has changed since.

Ruiz shot to fame after a relatively obscure career prior to the AJ victory. And he’s been lapping up the lifestyle.

“Being rich and famous has been going really well, it can get a little overwhelming at times but this is what I dreamed of and worked towards,” Ruiz said.

“My maddest purchase is probably all of the cars that I bought.

“I bought four cars, two types of Mercedes G-Wagons, the brand new Rolls Royce and a Lamborghini truck, an SUV.

“I also bought my mum and dad a truck, we have been having fun.

“My spending has not taken my competitive edge off.”

Many expect Joshua to avenge his first ever career defeat to Ruiz this week in Saudi Arabia.

The Mexican is hoping he can get the Londoner angry and believes he can take him if it starts to get gritty through the rounds.

“I want him to be mad and swinging in the ring, I want him to have that attitude because I will be calm and know exactly what we need to do,” said Ruiz.

“I don’t know if I am his bogeyman, I think his style was just perfect for me and I think it will be the same.

“I think he will box around nicely for four or five rounds until I take the pressure to him, start hitting his body and mixing it up.

“I did say he was not good enough to avoid me for the full 12 rounds, on the backfoot, we have been working on this for a round three months now and I know, whatever he brings, we will be ready for it.

“The doubters were just wondering, ‘What happened to Anthony Joshua? There’s something wrong with him.’

“Truly I think it was my style. It was the way that I handled him and that I took his punches.

“He gave me the hardest punches that he has so I ate them and that is what we are going to be doing again.”

But AJ insists he is not scared going into the rematch.

“I didn’t lose heart or fire in my belly,” Joshua said. “There is no fear in my heart, my eyes or my mind.

“I didn’t lose any commitment.

“There was a big change and a big shift in the division so it definitely feels different.

“I turn this stuff into a positive otherwise it will eat you up, and will fold into a way that I don’t want it to go.

“I had to own the situation and make it work for me.”
