Giants reportedly not planning to have open QB competition despite Daniel Jones’ preseason success

Eli Manning will be the Giants’ quarterback.

New York rookie Daniel Jones has exceeded expectations in the preseason, but the team is still not planning to have an open competition, according to a report from SNY, which cites unidentified sources inside the organization.

The report notes that as long as the Giants “are in the race and he’s healthy and playing well, it’s not Manning’s job to lose. It’s just his job.”

The Giants selected Jones, 22, out of Duke with the No. 6 pick in the 2019 draft. Fans criticized the team’s choice, but he has completed 16 of his 19 passes for 228 yards with a pair of touchdowns in two preseason appearances.
