Jeremy Lin thanks DeMar DeRozan for contributions to Raptors’ first championship

Jeremy Lin acknowledged the contributions DeMar DeRozan made to Toronto on Friday.

Lin, 30, became the first Asian-American to win an NBA championship Thursday after the Raptors’ Game 6 victory over Warriors in the Finals. He took to Twitter and gave thanks to DeRozan for the “positive impact” he had on the franchise.

“Having lived in Toronto last 4 months, Ive seen by far more @DeMar_DeRozan jerseys than anyone else,” he wrote. “Dont rly know Demar personally but the positive impact he had is so obvious. Hope he gets credit for laying the foundation and paving the way!”

DeRozan was traded by Toronto in a blockbuster trade that netted the team Kawhi Leonard from the Spurs. He is the Raptors’ all-time leading scorer and spent nine seasons representing Canada, but couldn’t help them get over the hump in the Eastern Conference and make an appearance in the Finals.
