March Madness 2019: Syracuse suspends Frank Howard; PG to miss first round of NCAA Tournament
Syracuse’s chances of advancing in the NCAA Tournament just took a major hit.
The university released a statement Wednesday saying senior point guard Frank Howard “will not play in the NCAA Tournament for an indefinite period of time due to a violation of athletic department policy.”
“Well, he’s not playing, we know that. We practiced with the inclination that this would be the case.”

It’s not known whether the incidents are related, but Howard was the player accused of trying to trip Duke’s Zion Williamson in Williamson’s first game back from a knee injury. Both coach Jim Boeheim and Howard denied the tripping allegations immediately following the game.
Oh wow good catch by ESPN.

Howard was looking to build off a career-high 28-point outing vs. Duke in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals when the eighth-seeded Orange take on ninth-seeded Baylor on Thursday in a West Region game in Salt Lake City.

Based on a video Syracuse tweeted earlier in the day, Howard is with the team in Utah, but his status remains to be determined if the Orange advance. Syracuse would play the winner of No. 1 seed Gonzaga vs. 16th-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson in the second round.
